Autumn continues to seek ways to grow professionally from attending AVID training this summer to Laying Foundation trainings, AP trainings and SAT prep. She is willing to do whatever it takes to make our students learn. She is like a sponge, willing to grow and learn.

Mrs. Taylor organized the ITBS efforts on Summit campus. She worked overtime to ensure tests were completed and packaged correctly. Due to her results oriented  attitude, her timely communications and her creative problem solving ideas Summit was able to meet CMO deadline.


John Funk

John Funk

John Funk is in his 1st year as a teacher, but he has taken an active role in the lives of his students in and out of the class. He is the middle school football coach, and he began building relationships early in the year by allowing students to take ownership in the design and structure of his room.

Mrs. Valentine diligently works to communicate on a daily (and sometimes twice daily) basis, the weather alerts that informs teachers and administration of weather conditions that coudl dversely affect student health.

Juanita recognized an issue with out ELL files and takes action to make corrections.  She set up training and staff development with Region 10 for our campus and completed all the detailed work.

James motivated and lead the ELA/SS department to begin a classroom observation cycle. He has collaboratively developed the middle school advisory sessions.

Bussy stepped in and attended the National AP Forum in New York.  He is a great role model for students and staff alike.

Mr. Ezell lead the Summit Primary musical with lighting and props. His choir performed at Six Flags during the Holidays and went to several nursing homes.

Thomas Davenport’s passion for technology and community service is prevalent in his students’ creation of Root 122. He partnered with an outside marketing firm and built an online blogging platform.

Erin Jackson

As a first year teacher, Miss Jackson has done an outstanding job with implementing our chapter of Community Problem Solvers. This group has been instrumental in spotlighting literacy on our campus. They have organized a book drive and are tracking our goals towards reading 2012 books campus wide by Spring Break.

Yessenia Hackett- Evans

February 2012

Mrs. Hackett is one of the first teachers on campus and one of the last to leave. She stays late to tutor students and help them with projects. Recently, students worked in groups to create commercials and skits using Spanish vocabulary. She has an open door policy with her students who often go to her for advice and guidance.

Eva Bowman

Eva has been an ideal employee and has shown her commitment and dedication by consistently performing assigned duties (car line, cafeteria) and being in attendance at every session. She  chaperoned the High School Girls Basketball Team  to the state playoffs in Austin and is responsible for the coordination and execution of the Secondary Math and Science night.

Kelly is extremely solution oriented and extremely detail oriented. She is proactive and does whatever it takes to get the job done. She coordinated several programs for Secondary (i.e. Secondary Winter Celebrations, Student Success Night and Secondary Open House) all while assisting other team members with tasks.

Mr. Strader successfully builds positive relationships with his students and their families. He consistently meets with parents to develop school home partnerships. He maintains a high degree of professionalism and recently planned the 6th grade field trips to the Holocaust Museum.

Miss Wilkes as a 1st year teacher has shown

phenomenal growth. Observing her and her scholars implement the daily fine is a treat. The progress she and her scholars have made in the area of literacy is worth noting. Way to go Miss Wilkes!

Mr. Pina is a prime example of a team player and an extra ordinary employee. Mr. Pina works diligently to meet all state and local deadlines and continues to support his team in any way he can. Over the years, Mr. Pina has built strong and lasting relationships with Summit students and parents. Mr. Pina’s positive attitude and collaboration with his teammates is why he has been chosen as Employee of the Month!

Bussy Perez is a continuous learner who seeks ways to improve constantly. He demonstrates the highest level of professionalism and models the behaviors and attitudes Uplift values. In addition to working as a teacher, he devotes his afternoons and Saturdays to coaching middle/high school girls’ soccer.

Erica Freeman

Ms. Freeman is an incredible asset to the Summit Middle School Team. She effectively leads the math & science department PLC’s. She also collaboratively planned math after school interventions with the 6th grade science teacher, as well as planned the 6th

grade STAAR camp with the entire grade level.

Shere Taylor

Ms. Taylor is an awesome example of professionalism, collaboration and partnership. She has been an integral part of the Interview Team and attended the Uplift Job Fair where she helped to screen potential candidates. She openly extended an invitation for candidates to use her classroom for model lessons. Because of her meaningful feedback, Summit will select the best teachers!
